Is it a matter of time, before Connecticut lawmakers legalize marijuana? It would seem the clock is ticking, now that Massachusetts has legalized weed. The new regulations go into effect today in the commonwealth.
Now comes word the medical marijuana industry in Connecticut – which is legal – is flourishing. The Day of New London newspaper is reporting that Montville-based Thames Valley Alternative Relief has outgrown its space and is moving into a former Bank of America building, which it plans to expand. The only medicinal marijuana dispensary in the region has seen its business grow to over 2,000 patients.
Several factors are being mentioned for the increase, including the fact the state expanded the number of illnesses covered by medical pot last session.
There have been efforts in the legislature to legalize pot. With it now legal in Massachusetts and the medicinal dispensaries flourishing in Connecticut, expect the cash-strapped state to put the marijuana issue on the front-burner in 2017.
