Dr. Prasad Srinivasan wants to be Connecticut’s next governor. A state representative from Glastonbury, the allergist was elected to the General Assembly six years ago. Rep. Srinivasan, 67, formally filed papers to seek the state’s highest office on Friday. He is not even going to create an exploratory committee, instead choosing to throw his hat directly into the ring for the 2018 race.
“I am very clear in my mind,” Srinivasan told CT Mirror. “I’ve been thinking about it for a while, maybe six months in my mind the idea has been brewing. My wife and I talked about it. We decided the time was right to run for this position.
While others have formed exploratory committees about becoming the GOP’s gubernatorial nominee, Srinivasan is the first declared candidate.
