Record-Journal: Connecticut not out of woods yet. Not even close

forestThe Middletown-based Record-Journal newspaper claims that state employee pension fund problems still persist, despite a recent deal announced earlier this month between Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and the state employee unions.   The paper’s editorial notes: “…an estimated $13.8 billion in pension expenses would be shifted onto taxpayers in the 2030s and 2040s.”

The editorial is calling for cooperation between Democrats and Republicans on the issue…”because, when it comes to employee pensions and their effect on the budget, Connecticut is not out of the woods yet.  Not even close.”
