State Rep. William Tong, D-Stamford, says he will file a bill for early voting in Connecticut, during the upcoming legislative session.
On his Facebook page, Tong posted the following:
“Here’s the first bill submitted for drafting in the next legislative session. It’s my proposal for an amendment to the state constitution to allow early voting.”
In 2014, Connecticut voters rejected an amendment for early voting, but Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said the question was not worded properly. She also supports early voting. Thirty-four states and the District of Columbia allow for early voting.
