The Journal Inquirer newspaper of Manchester has a solution to possible conflicts of interest among members of Connecticut’s General Assembly: make it full-time.
Several corners have expressed concern with incoming Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz over his full-time job as a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The union is the largest public employees’ union in Connecticut.
In order to put an end to the discussion the JI is advocating that members of Connecticut’s legislature become a full-time assembly rather part-time legislators. And by the way, the paper reminds its readers that a full-time job would come with full-time pay.
