Two days before Christmas and the Connecticut Working Families Party is calling State Rep. Rob Sampson, R-Wolcott, “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” A well-known conservative, Sampson has pre-filed several bills for the next legislative session, including a proposal that Connecticut become a “right-to-work” state and that funding be withheld to state universities and colleges that protect illegal aliens.
“The ‘Grinch Who Stole Christmas’ award goes to Rep. Rob Sampson who filed several bills aimed at: cutting worker protections, denying hardworking, tax-paying immigrants an equal opportunity to education and imposing harsh restrictions on how poor people utilize benefits,” said Lindsay Farrell, state head of the liberal group.
Sampson is also among those proposing that the state income tax be eliminated for Social Security recipients, which Farrell did not mention in her statement.
