Herbst slams Malloy and capitol culture in Courant op-ed

Tim Herbst

Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst, who some say has designs on running for state office in 2018, slammed education cuts made by the Malloy administration, in a Sunday Hartford Courant op-ed piece.  Herbst also lambasted state lawmakers for inflated pensions, writing:

“Part-time legislators padding their pensions with inflated reimbursements, football coaches being given lavish University of Connecticut funded payouts and billionaires getting extravagant deals are merely three symptoms of a pervasive culture of superiority in Hartford.”

Herbst ran for state treasurer in 2014 and narrowly lost to long-time incumbent Denise Nappier.
