You text and drive, you pay according to new bills under proposal

Connecticut state lawmakers are looking to up the ante on fines paid by distracted drivers.  When the General Assembly’s Transportation Committee meets on Monday at a publc hearing, several bills increasing distracted driving penalties are on the agenda.  Currently, the first offense for distracted driving is $150, $300 for the second, and $500 for the third and subsequent violations.  But those numbers could increase, if certain lawmakers have their way.
