Malloy might want to give fellow-Dem Blumenthal a call. His brother-in-law owns Islanders

If Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s effort to lure the New York Islanders to Connecticut is more than just an attempt to disguise the bad budget news he is about to deliver to the people of Connecticut, he might want to give fellow Democrat U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal a call.  The Hartford Courant reported in its Saturday editions that Blumenthal’s brother-in-law, Scott Malkin, is co-owner of the NHL team along with Jon Ledecky.

Malloy announced on Friday he had written a letter to the Islanders about moving to Connecticut.  A news story earlier in the week indicated the landlord of the Islanders home, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, is losing money with the team using the arena, and wants to end the relationship, when the club’s lease with the arena expires in two years.
