You wouldn’t know that Bob Stefanowski has a big roll out Monday for his campaign for governor by the coverage, would you? Stefanowski, the successful business executive, is running for the Republican party gubernatorial nomination. He’s been making the rounds, has a slick website, has Dr. Arthur Laffer – economic adviser to Presidents Reagan and Trump – supporting his economic plan, and other heavy hitting supporters.
Monday, Dec. 4 is Stefanowski’s big across-the-state roll out of his campaign. He even has an announcement on his website. He has an 11:00 a.m news conference scheduled. Not a word in the media. The same media is quick to highlight an obscure Democratic gubernatorial candidate, who will hold a news conference to announce he’s changing his mind and running for attorney general. We’re being reminded that U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy will hold a joint news conference to pan the Senate Republicans’ tax plan, which passed early Saturday morning. Not a mention of Stefanowski.
Maybe it’s because he wants to ween the state off the income tax, or renegotiate with the state employees’ unions, or push for term limits, the ballot initiative and recall. Maybe it’s because he wants to privatize the Department of Motor Vehicles and adopt zero-based budgeting.
We’ll see if the media covers his 11:00 news conference, but so far they’ve been previewing every candidate in the books, everybody, except Bob Stefanowski.
