The head of the Connecticut chapter of the NAACP alleges that the University of Connecticut is sitting on a “powder keg” in the aftermath of the fracas featuring Lucian Wintrich’s talk on campus Tuesday night. Scott Esdaile was at UConn Wednesday night, one night after Wintrich’s speech “It’s Ok To Be White,” erupted into a fracas and resulted in Wintrich’s arrest.
“For this type of outburst to happen, there seems to be a powder keg here, and we don’t want this to get bigger and worse,” Esdaile said.
Esdaile said the title of the speech itself was inflammatory in this day and age and added:
“There’s obvious serious race problems on the UConn campus.”
