Connecticut Democrats are attempting to make Tuesday’s municipal elections about President Donald Trump. No better example of this is New Britain, where popular Republican Mayor Erin Stewart is poised to win a third term in a city with a heavy Democratic Party registration.
On Sunday, that master Democratic fundraiser, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy. Out campaigning in the Hardware City for the Democrats, Murphy told Democrats: “You’ve got to let people know if they stay home on Tuesday, they are endorsing what’s happening. If you stay home on Tuesday, you are providing a silent endorsement of this president.”
At last check, Donald Trump was not running for mayor of New Britain. Stewart’s Democratic opponent is Merrill Gay.
